Mr. Kato once expressed his philosophy this way:

To refine the ”technique“ needed to create works that express his inner vision, he constantly engages with clay,
producing more pieces through an ongoing dialogue with the material.

To hone his ”sensibility,“ he actively participates in exhibitions both in Japan and abroad,
breathing in the atmosphere of different cultures and immersing himself in their history and traditions—
experiences that become irreplaceable sources of inspiration.

In Japan, Mr. Kato is a member of prestigious organizations such as the Nitten Exhibition and the Kyoto Craft Art Association,
where he continually learns from and draws inspiration from master artists.

This earnest approach to creation has cultivated a fusion of ”technique,“ ”sensibility,“ and ”experience,“
giving rise to the distinctive Jōbu-gama kiln‘s refined Kiyomizu-yaki and Kyo-yaki ceramics—
each piece embodying timeless elegance.
